Product Overview
The TEC14MEV1.0 is a TEC controller evaluation board developed exclusively for evaluating the TEC14M5V3R5AS micro TEC controller. It is supplied together with the controller as a bundle, providing a convenient platform for configuring, testing, and tuning low-noise, high-stability TEC temperature control circuits.
The TEC14M5V3R5AS is a compact surface-mount (SMT) micro TEC controller module designed to drive a thermoelectric cooler with high stability (0.001°C) and low noise. It operates from a 2.7V to 5.5V supply (VVPS) and delivers up to 3.5A of output current, with a maximum output voltage of ±VVPS. It controls both the direction and magnitude of the current flowing through the TEC, allowing heating and cooling control for accurate temperature stabilization. The controller does not include an internal compensation network — the network is implemented and tuned on the evaluation board.
The 140 mm × 130 mm evaluation board allows users to set the maximum output voltage, set the set-point temperature, monitor the output voltage, monitor the actual thermal load temperature, and tune the compensation network to match the thermal load.
The main purpose of this evaluation board is to tune the on-board compensation network to match the characteristics of the user’s thermal load. Proper compensation tuning helps minimize thermal control loop response time and dynamic temperature tracking error while keeping the control loop stable. The compensation network is initialized with default values before shipment.
The board includes a complete tuning and application circuit for driving a TEC, an output voltage limit setting, an on-board LED that lights when the set-point and actual temperatures differ by less than 0.1°C, and numerous connection pads and vias for probing measurement nodes or connecting external components and instruments.
