Why Did My Payment Fail? Payment Troubleshooting Guide

Why a Payment Can Fail
Online card payments pass through several checks: your card details, your bank’s security rules, and in many cases an extra identity check. A payment can stop at any of these points. When this happens, you can simply try the payment again. Please note that an unpaid order is held only for a short time. After that, it is cancelled automatically, and you will need to place the order again.
Before you try again, please check these details on the checkout page:
- The card number, expiry date, and security code (CVC) are correct.
- The billing address and ZIP / postal code match the address your bank has on file for the card.
- The card has enough available credit for the order total, including shipping.
Tip: Please do not retry many times in a row. Several failed attempts in a short time can cause your bank to block the card for fraud protection. If two attempts fail, move on to the steps below.
Check with Your Bank
The most common reason for a failed payment is that the card issuer declined it. Banks often do this to protect you, especially for online or international purchases. Common reasons include:
Security settings
- Online purchases are turned off or limited on the card
- International payments are blocked
- Fraud-prevention rules flagged the payment
Limits
- The daily or per-transaction spending limit was reached
- The available credit is lower than the order total
- The card is new and not yet activated for online use
What to do: Call your bank, or check your banking app for a payment alert. Ask the bank to approve the payment to Analog Technologies, then place the payment again.
Note: After a declined payment, your bank may show a temporary “pending” amount on your account. This is normally released by the bank. If you are unsure whether you were charged, email us before paying again.
Complete 3D Secure (SCA) Verification
Many banks ask for an extra identity check during online payments. This is called 3D Secure or Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). You may be asked to enter a one-time code sent by text message, or to approve the payment in your banking app.
The payment will fail if:
- The verification step was not completed
- The verification window was closed or timed out
- The bank declined the verification request
What to do: Try the payment again. Keep your phone nearby, and complete the verification step as soon as it appears. Do not close the pop-up window or leave the checkout page until the payment is confirmed.
Try Another Payment Method
Analog Technologies accepts credit and debit cards through two payment services. If one does not work, the other often will.
Credit / Debit Card via Stripe Default
Enter your card details directly on the checkout page.
Credit / Debit Card via PayPal Try if Stripe fails
In many countries, PayPal lets you pay with a credit or debit card without logging in to or creating a PayPal account.
Common Questions
Was my card charged if the payment failed?
A failed payment is normally not charged. Your bank may show a temporary pending amount, which it releases later. If you are not sure, email us with your order number and we will check the order status for you.
Is my order cancelled if the payment failed?
An unpaid order is held for a short time. If the payment is not completed within that time, the order is cancelled automatically. This does not affect your card. Simply place the order again, or email us and we will help you complete it.
My bank says it approved the payment, but it still fails. What now?
Try paying with your card through PayPal. If that also fails, email us and we will provide other payment options.
